Monoliths and boulders have their own charm but few fail to be enhanced by a flow of water over their surfaces. The combination of movement, colour and sound has a soothing influence and gives endless fascination.
The harder stones, Slate, Marble, Granite, Gabbro and Gneiss are the most suited for water features due to their low absorption of water.
Of particular appeal is a stone found in Wales which has a mixture of banded green slate, granite ranging from a pea to olive green and white to pinky quartz – superb when wet.
We supply drilled standing
stones from around a foot tall to over 8 feet and feature
stones from a few kilos up to a tonne, in a variety of materials.
Customers are invited to visit our yard and
select a stone from the many available. We then drill the stone, deliver or organise delivery and
if necessary erect it in its final location (subject to distance
from the yard).
We can also supply all the parts that you
will need and advise on the best and safest way to put your water feature
together.
Tip; All water features will grow green algae. It is easily removed with a dish brush from slate but tenacious on more granular stones. To minimise the problem use chlorine swimming pool tablets in the water. In the recommended doses it is harmless to wildlife and domestic animals
