HEARTH SLABS

Hearth Slab

Hearths may be either from a single slab up to 3 by 2 metres or paved, which is usually a more cost effective solution and offers a wider choice of stone.

Materials include: Slate from Wales, Brazil, Italy and China, in green, heather, grey and black. Finishes are either natural riven or honed.
Sandstones range from a light cream to a full gold, often with subtle streaks, and even brown or grey for a contemporary flavour.

Limestones include fine creams, rustic yellows, some with fossils, and classic Travertines.

Marble is stocked in a white veined emerald green and Granite in a full black.

Other varieties can be obtained to special order.

Typical thicknesses are 20 and 30 mm and thicker hearths catered for by either  plinths or upstands

Massive rough hewn slate slabs up to 150 mm thick are also available from time to time, depending on our “finds” in the quarries.

Virtually any shape of hearth can be catered for. Advice and guidance is freely available on the suitability of the various materials for both living and decorative fires, in addition to the requirements of the Building Regulations.
