Water Features
We make both drilled Standing stones and Slate Stacks (or Pyramids) and can either supply them alone or with the necessary parts to complete your water feature.
Standing Stones
We recommend that Drilled standing stones from3 to 5 feet tall (0.9 to 1.5 metres) are supported on a galvanised steel grill placed over a water reservoir.
To ensure the safety of the stone we make a clamping system to pull the stone down onto the grill, as shown in the photographs. This consists of a horizontal hole just above the bottom of the stone into which a tube is inserted which is clamped to the grill by steel hook bolts.
This also allows movement of the stone into position by, for example, a sack barrow without the need to lift the stone onto a stabilizing rod. Once in position the water feed pipe is then inserted up into the stone through the pump inspection aperture in the grill.
Larger heavier stones may not be suitable for placement on a grill, so need to be concreted in position remote from the reservoir. In this case we drill a horizontal hole, just above the finished level at the base that intersects with the vertical water drilling and is used for the water feed.
Whatever your need we are happy to provide advice and drill your stone accordingly.

Slate Stacks
These are built up from random natural pieces of thin slate, tapering from the base to the top. They are drilled with a hole through the middle and assembled on a galvanised steel pipe which also takes the water to the top.
The standard 75cm tall stack is intended to sit on a 60 cm square galvanised steel grillover a 60cm diameter plastic reservoir. The support pipe has a built in flange that is bolted to the grill to ensure the complete safety of the assembly. The grill has a small inspection cover to allow access to the pump and cleaning.
The complete kit comprises a 1.3 metre square section of pond liner to form the water catchment area, a matching piece of weed control membrane to protect the liner and a suitable 240 volt water pump with hose and clips. All that is needed is a suitable aggregate to spread round the feature such as slate, pebbles, glass or other decorative chippings.
The slate segments can be plum or green slate or a mixture.
We believe that our slate stacks offer the best value for money. Compared with the largest supplier to Garden Centres in the UK our product offers:
- At 90 litres; 3 times the water capacity = less frequent top ups
- With the galvanised steel grill; access to the water pump and reservoir for adjustment and maintenance without dismantling the stack.
-With the bolted down support pipe; safety and piece of mind
